John Schaefer, who joined TriZetto as corporate counsel in 2006, leads TriZetto’s legal department and is responsible for providing counsel and support to the company on a wide range of legal issues.  His team of legal professionals supports the company’s acquisition and partnership activities, human capital management issues, financing activities, the customer and vendor contracting processes, and the development and protection of the company’s intellectual property portfolio.  Schaefer also supports the board of directors in his capacity as secretary.  Before joining TriZetto, he was a corporate associate at the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP, where he represented public and private companies in a variety of capital market and M&A transactions and provided general securities law advice.  Schaefer earned his juris doctor from New York University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern California.
